What Hope is Not

20130704_143829A definition of hope from doing a Google search:

hope
hōp
noun

  1. a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
“he looked through her belongings in the hope of coming across some information
  2. a feeling of trust.

verb  want something to happen or be the case
My definition of hope reflects more on the second definition “a feeling of trust”.  To want something to be the case or happen and a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen takes out the faith aspect of hope.  Sure you hope all day to win the lottery; but the odds are stacked against you.  Not only that; but, the odds are always the same.  So where what hope is not:
Hope is not fear.
Hope is not trusting
Hope is not maybe
Hope is not what could have been
Hope is not tomorrow perhaps
Hope is not …. (fill in the blank)
The different between hope and no hope is not not believing it can happen.  With hope and God, all things are possible and nothing is impossible with faith and hope. What should we fear about hope…nothing for when I look to the phonic spelling of hope, it is hop.  So hop to hope, it is only a hope away.
I can  do all through Christ which strenghteneth me.  Phil 4:13
